Tony at his wood turning lathe
|
At Clyn Glas we are able to
offer tuition in wood turning on an individual basis.
Tony has been wood turning for about twelve years now.
What began as a hobby became an obsession and is now a way of life.
Our move to West Wales from North Herefordshire was largely determined
by our ambition to run a holiday centre which could offer facilities which are
ideal for tuition, on both a day or residential basis.
Our workshop has been refurbished
to provide spacious accommodation which is comfortable to work in and we hope
to provide a flexible strategy which will fit almost any customer requirement.
It is quite possible for guests to come and stay without there being any
interest in the workshop at all. However,
it could be that some guests would want to participate in classes for most of
the duration of their stay. Out of
high season we would hope to arrange short stay breaks for those who like to develop
interests in addition to the normal run of holiday activities.
We look to provide encouragement
for any who would like to gain confidence in their handling of a lathe, whether
they are complete novices or have already gained some experience in wood turning.
Whatever your requirements or interests, it is likely that we can help
you. A telephone call might offer
you the answers to any questions you might need to ask.
We will always be happy to discuss your requirements with you.
Charges for the courses will
vary. As
a guide, it has been our practice to charge £100.00
for a full days individual tuition including two
full sessions in the workshop and refreshments throughout
the day. This
will be our standard charge for day tuition, but for
guests at the cottages we will offer a half day for
£35.00 or a full day for £70.00.
There will also be a minor charge of a few pounds
to cover wood blanks used and any other items incorporated
in the articles made. These latter will, of course be
the property of the person learning the craft once the
lesson is complete, and so everyone has a tangible reminder
of their lesson(s).
